Commemoration of the dead persons by the Tsunami disaster, 26-12-2019
A programme to commemorate the dead ones by the Tsunami disaster that affected Sri Lanka 15 years ago in 2004 was held today (26.12.2019) with the chief participation of Mr.Gamini Ilangarathne, the District Secretary and participation of other officers and that was organized by the Kurunegala District Disaster Management Division.
Celebration of World Children's Day, 27-10-2019
The celebration of world children’s day organized by the Janodana Development Society Ltd was held successfully on 27.10.2019 the whole day in Udubaddawa Dhammajothi Vidyalaya. The main lecture of the first session of this was delivered by Mrs. Kanchana Subasinha, the Kurunegala District Psycho Social Officer of the National Child Protection Authority. 250 Children attended this. Events such as prize giving, dancing presentation, planting trees were held many invitees including Advocate, Mr.H.M. Aberathna, the president of the National Child Protection Authority attended this.
The World Children's day Celebrating Festival, 01-10-2019
The festival to celebrate the world children's day organized by the Child Protection Authority of the Kurunegala District Secretariat was held successfully. Mr.G.A. Kithsiri, the Additional District Secretary of Kurunegala attended this. Also Officers of the Child Protection, Police Officers of Kurunegala, Media Associations and members of the Red Cross Society attended.
The four storied building which was constructed with the expense of 890 lakhs of the Mawathagama Divisional Secretariat was declared open for the use of the public on 18 – 08 – 2019
It was declared open by Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe with the guidance of Hon. President, Mr. Maithreepala Sirisena. Ministers and Members of Parliament including Hon. Minister of Internal and Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Governments, Mr. Wajira Abewardhana, Hon State Minister of Internal and Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Governments and the President of the Mawathagama Divisional Coordinating Committee, Mr. J.C. Alawathuwala, Minister of Education, Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and many government officers attended for that occasion.

According to the Action Plan 2019 of the National Child Protection Authority, two psychosocial intervention programs for primary teachers of Polgahawela Education Division, organized under the supervision of Kurunegala District Secretary Mr.Gamini Ilangarathne, will be held on 09.08.2019. Held at Polgahawela Divisional Secretariat Auditorium and Weerambugedara Divisional Secretariat Auditorium from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm. Here's how to identify children's minds, child protection and child protection law, how a teacher should act in child abuse. It is expected to educate them through group activities. Ms.Kanchana Subasinghe, Psychologist of the National Child Protection Authority, Kurunegala District, psychiatrists and senior education directors give lectures on these programs.
A psycho social intervention program for children in remand homes - 06.08.2019
A psycho social intervention program for children in remand homes, under the supervision of Kurunegala District Secretary Mr.Gamini Illangarathne, will be held at Galkanda Muditha Children's Home in Hettipola on 06.08.2019 as per the Action Plan of the National Child Protection Authority 2019. It is expected to conduct children's stress management, leadership development programs, challenging activities, art therapy and music therapy programs. Mrs.Kanchana Subasinghe, Psycho-Social Officer of the National Child Protection Authority of the Kurunegala District and a team of psychiatrists and psycho therapists of the Psychosocial Unit are conducting the lectures.
The Festival to Grant Appointment Letters for 16800 Graduates – 31.07.2019
According to the decision taken by the government to engage the graduates effectively in the government sector the appointment letter granting festival of the Kurunegala district of the series of festivals to grant appointment letters for 16800 graduates will be held in the Kuliyapitiya town hall at 8.30 a.m. on 31st of July in 2019 headed by Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Hon. Minister of Education and Member of Parliament of the Kurunegala district and the participation of Ministers and Members of parliament of the Kurunegala district.
Viruliya Shakthi Special Self Employment Assistance Training Program – Kurunegala District (25.07.2019)
“Viruliya Shakthi” Self-Help Assistance Training Workshop organized by the National Reconciliation Bureau and Kurunegala District Secretariat will be held at the 3rd Floor auditorium of the North Western Development Ministry from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on 25th july 2019. These programs are implemented to uplift the living standards of the military families of who died in the last operation. According to a survey conducted by Women Development Officers, 40 clients recommended by District Secretary Mr.Gamini Illangarathne are eligible to receive self-help assistance. Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Board Mr.N.D. Deepal Dayawansa is expected to provide the resource for the workshop. The program is coordinated by Mrs.M. Kanchana Subasinghe, Psycho-Social Officer of the National Child Protection Authority, Kurunegala District.
